Secondary Transition Programs
Planning for the transition to post-secondary life is central to secondary programming.
The Kootenay-Columbia School District provides meaningful, relevant and personalized opportunities for learners to explore their vision for a multitude of post-secondary pathways. Students are supported to develop academic and core competencies, and engage in self-exploration of their interests, values, and goals. Students are supported as they also explore their communities and their future possibilities.
Transition planning opportunities occur through engaging student-centered classrooms and school activities, as well as by partnering with community businesses and organizations, training centers, and workplaces.
Click on the boxes below to learn more about specific transition programs.
Kootenay-Columbia recognizes that transition planning is a holistic process and acknowledges the interconnectedness of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual elements of an individual. Balance of these four elements is needed as we navigate our daily lives and plan for our futures. Successful transition planning also recognizes the interconnectedness of an individual to their family, friends and communities.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Together, we can inspire and prepare the next generation for successful transitions to adulthood.
Kootenay-Columbia School District values partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and workplaces Partnerships provide community based education opportunities for students where they can learn more about their communities, connect with mentors and explore potential transitional pathways.
